Airports
Miami International Airport (MIA): Located about 15 minutes from the Gato home, MIA is central to most hotels and attractions, making it a super convenient option.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL): About 35 minutes from the Gato home, FLL is a bit farther but often worth the drive for better flight deals or schedules.
We fly from both airports and often make the extra drive to FLL if it means a better flight time or price!
Getting Around Miami
Miami isn’t known for its public transit system, but there are a few options for getting around:
The Metromover is a free transit system that operates downtown and connects to certain areas.
The Miami Trolley is also free and offers routes through key neighborhoods.
For the most part, rideshare services like Uber and Lyft will be your best bet for easy and reliable transportation. Renting a car is another option, but keep in mind that parking, especially in South Beach, can be pricey, and Miami’s traffic and drivers are notorious for being a bit wild. Choose what feels most comfortable for you!
